Alexander immigrated to America and established a business with his wife’s father, Richard Swepson. Later a Tavern was constructed which served as a courthouse, jail, and inn for guests visiting from out of town.  Alexander and Anne produced twelve children who went on to rear large families also. The town of Boydton was named in his honor and the tavern has been restored to honor the many descendants who meet annually to remember the founder.
